Aam Aadmi Celebration (AAP) chief Gopal Italia on Wednesday slammed Bharatiya Janata Celebration MLA Harish Khurana, saying he was “no higher than a petty troll” for sharing an alleged AI-edited photograph and linking him to Rajesh Sakariya, the attacker of Delhi chief minister Rekha Gupta.
He questioned whether or not Khurana thought of the honour of his late father, former Delhi chief minister Madan Lal Khurana, earlier than participating in such actions.
Italia alleged that the BJP was annoyed over his by-election win in Visavadar of Gujarat, and was making an attempt to malign him, AAP, and social gathering chief Arvind Kejriwal.
“Ever since I received as an MLA from Visavadar, the BJP has been upset and offended. They can’t digest {that a} younger man from a non-political background, from a brand new social gathering like AAP, received in opposition to them. Out of frustration, they’re making an attempt to malign me, my social gathering, and our chief, Arvind Kejriwal,” Italia mentioned in a video message.
“We come from the individuals; they’re our energy. BJP retains resorting to crooked strategies to defame us. The behaviour of a BJP chief from Delhi is extraordinarily shameful, disgraceful, and unsuitable,” he added.
Addressing Khurana immediately, Italia mentioned, “By enhancing an previous video of mine and including one other man’s photograph, what are you making an attempt to indicate? Would your father, who earned respect via exhausting work, be completely happy to see his son spreading faux information?”
He urged media and BJP leaders to confirm information earlier than sharing or broadcasting unverified claims.
“Don’t run information based mostly on this petty troll’s tweet. I will likely be pressured to take authorized motion if this continues,” Italia warned.
The controversy arose after Khurana shared a social media put up claiming Italia was linked to the attacker. Italia denied the declare, saying the photograph was AI-generated from an previous video, and shared the unique video as proof.
In the meantime, Delhi Police have booked Rajesh Sakariya below Part 109(1) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) for try to homicide. Police mentioned he’s a “serial offender” with a number of previous instances in Gujarat, many ending in acquittal.
