Lovlina Borgohain accuses BFI official of mistreatment and making sexist remarks: ‘Informed me to close up and decrease my head’

Lovlina Borgohain, the Olympic bronze medallist, accused a senior Boxing Federation of India (BFI) official of mistreating her and making her really feel small by spending some sexist remarks. The 27-year-old boxer has submitted a written grievance to Union Sports activities Minister Mansukh Mandaviya, SAI Director-Normal Hari Ranjan Rao, the Indian Olympic Affiliation (IOA), TOPS officers, and BFI.

In her communication to the involved officers, Lovlina alleged that Col (Retd) Arun Malik, govt director of BFI and interim committee member, humiliated her when she made a proper request.

She requested the senior official to let Pranamika Boro be a part of her as a private coach for a coaching stint in Europe.

“What occurred in the course of the official assembly on July 8 left me deeply damage and disheartened. Mr Arun Malik raised his voice at me, spoke in an aggressively demeaning tone, and blatantly instructed me to ‘shut up, decrease your head and do as we are saying’,” she wrote in her letter, as reported by The Instances of India.

“In an area the place I anticipated professionalism, help and mutual respect, I used to be made to really feel small, unheard, and powerless. It was not only a private insult — it was an assault on each girl athlete who desires of standing tall, each in and outdoors the ring,” she acknowledged additional.

The official denies allegations

Nonetheless, the BFI official Col Malik has firmly denied all of the allegations, saying the assembly was “skilled”. “Lovlina is the delight of the nation, and we at BFI take immense delight in her achievements. Then again, SAI’s TEAMS division, headed by Ritu Pathik, can also be conducting an unbiased investigation into the matter.
