Bhopal: 4 musicians from Gujarat have been killed and 7 others injured on Saturday morning after a traveller bus carrying the musicians collided head-on with a truck on Nationwide Freeway-27 close to Surwaya in Madhya Pradesh, police stated.

A gaggle of 20 musicians — all residents of Mehsana and Surendranagar districts of Gujarat — have been returning after acting at a “Shiv Katha” occasion on the Kashi Vishwanath temple in Varanasi, Superintendent of Police (SP) of Shivpuri Aman Singh Rathore stated.

They have been reportedly a part of a group accompanying Gujarat’s spiritual storyteller Lankesh Babu, who had returned to Gujarat by flight on Friday.

“The bus driver may need dozed off whereas crossing Surwaya, misplaced management of the car, which flipped over the divider and collided with a truck within the reverse lane,” an officer stated.

Singer Hardik Dave (40) died on the spot, whereas Raja Thakur (28), Ankit Thakur (17), and Rajpal Solanki (60) died whereas being handled on the hospital.

In line with the injured, who have been taken to a district hospital for remedy, the Shiv Katha occasion in Varanasi was organised by a resident of Baroda. The group had departed from Gujarat’s Kadhi on August 8 and reached Varanasi on the morning of August 10.

Police have launched an investigation into the incident. “The our bodies of the deceased have been despatched for postmortem. The group was a part of the musical group accompanying Gujarat’s spiritual storyteller Lankesh Babu, who had returned to Gujarat by flight on Friday,” the officer added.
